THE ORIGIN OF HALCYON
Founded in 2023 by Matthew Pearson, Charlie Metcalfe and Will Burdett. Halcyon was born from a single, shared vision: to build the best electric cars in the world.
The three didn’t start out as business partners but as friendly rivals on opposite sides of the University of Bath’s racing programme, combustion versus electric. After graduating they went their separate ways, gaining diverse experience in motorsport, aerospace and high-end automotive, only to reunite years later around the same question that once fuelled their late‑night workshop debates: how to build a car for the future that felt every bit as special as the classics that first made us fall in love with driving?
“Working for bigger companies, and on other people’s dreams, was a great way to build skills and experience. For me, however, being responsible for an idea in its entirety through our own venture was the only way to build the best electric cars in the world.” - Matthew Pearson, Co-founder & CEO of Halcyon

Electrification, for them, was never a box-ticking exercise; it was a way to use modern technology to enhance already great cars in every way. That conviction led them straight to Rolls-Royce, specifically the Corniche and Silver Shadow. Elegant, unmistakably British, and renowned for silent grace, they were perfect candidates for an all-electric rebirth. A near-silent drivetrain and instant torque would amplify the very essence that defined these cars, while modern reliability would encourage owners to drive rather than store them. Marrying this innovation with peerless craftsmanship, the finest materials, and truly bespoke design completes the picture, amplifying everything that made these cars so special and turning each electrified Rolls-Royce into a one-of-one masterpiece.
“The Corniche once stood among the very best, most desirable cars in the world. We’re simply returning it to its rightful place." - Charlie Metcalfe, Co-founder & COO of Halcyon

FOUNDER BACKGROUNDS
Matthew Pearson | CEO Growing up within earshot of the Morgan factory, Matthew’s love for British cars was formed long before he held a licence, and at 18 he hauled home a rusty Triumph GT6, a project still happily unfinished.

While studying engineering, he often found modern automotive design uninspiring, and the notion that an electric future would produce dull, plastic cars only deepened his frustration. The theatrical debut of the Rolls‑Royce Wraith in 2013 ignited his lasting love for the marque, with Spectre later reminding him that modern engineering could still truly stir the soul. Everything he had seen as an engineer and lover of cars combined to spark a vision: to marry the craftsmanship and character that make Britain’s classics timeless with electric expectations of performance, refinement and sustainability.
In 2023 Matthew turned that vision into reality, reuniting the trio and leading the Halcyon mission to build an electric car that is as timeless as it is future proof.
Charlie Metcalfe | COO
Equal parts engineer and designer, Charlie serves as Halcyon’s creative counterpart, ensuring every client commission is as lovingly crafted and unmistakably bespoke as it is an everyday joy to drive. Honing this unique blend of creativity and measured thinking during his early career in race-track design, he played a lead role in shaping the inaugural Miami F1 Grand Prix before returning to automotive design, where he led early high‑end classic electrification projects.

Sharing Matthew’s vision and captivated by the Corniche’s effortless grace, he saw the chance to craft the first electric car that is, in every sense, even better than the original.
“A Rolls-Royce can never be too smooth, too quiet, or too graceful. By fusing the craftsmanship and emotion of coach-built design with electrification, we make these cars more refined than ever while preserving everything that makes them so special.”
Will Burdett | CTO
A chartered engineer and electrification specialist, Will is Halcyon’s enabler. He's delivering the next‑generation of electric technology, engineered for dependability, performance and future‑proof capability.

Will built his career designing and integrating bespoke electric powertrains across a wide range of vehicles. By overseeing the electrification of numerous high‑end classics, he gained an intimate grasp of the challenge, positioning him to set new industry benchmarks and supply technology that meets the highest expectations of performance and refinement.
“We’re not simply electrifying these classics. We’re re‑engineering every detail with the best technology available, proving that sustainability can enhance, not compromise, the driving experience.”
THE BUSINESS TODAY
Halcyon made headlines when it launched its first prototype at the end of 2024, just 12 months after the company was founded. It has since announced its second, ‘production’ prototype, scheduled for full public reveal in Q3 of this year, securing pre‑orders for all 2026 allocations.
Matthew comments, "I am delighted to confirm that every commission in our 2026 programme is now spoken for, and we look forward to delivering these remarkable cars to their visionary owners all around the world. The passion shown for our beautifully remastered icons fuels our pursuit of ever-higher standards of engineering and craftsmanship."
Following an immersive design phase at the Halcyon Atelier, where clients work hand-in-hand with Halcyon’s designers to curate every stitch, hue and feature from a library of the finest natural materials, each commission embarks on a 12-month build programme. It begins with thousands of hours of bodywork restoration, after which expert craftspeople integrate the latest technologies, bespoke interiors and Halcyon’s next-generation powertrain.
This EV system was developed in collaboration with Halcyon’s sister brand, Evice Technologies, an electric powertrain specialist delivering advanced, scalable solutions across a wide variety of industries, including automotive, marine, and defence sectors.

Together, the two brands bring world‑class engineering expertise to bear, drawing on deep experience from Formula 1 and leading OEMs such as McLaren, Rivian, and McMurtry.
“Our long term goal is to bring advanced, scalable propulsion technology to the wider transport market,” Will explains. “We see enormous potential to partner with other innovative manufacturers to support them in their transition to electric technology.”
DRIVING THE FUTURE
Contemplating the future, the three founders are excited and optimistic, with a drive to make the business a success and realise a fundamental shared ambition. When asked about the company’s trajectory, Will offers a forward-looking perspective:
Right now, we’re focused on remastering these iconic cars and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with electric technology. But our vision extends far beyond that. We want to create a sustainable future that genuinely excites people.”

Looking at the future of the automotive industry more broadly, there is an acknowledgement that electrification has presented a paradigm change with immense opportunity.
“Legacy OEMs are suffering and may continue to do so,” explains Matthew. “For those in the right position, there is the potential to take significant market share. Absolutely nobody knows what the automotive industry will look like in 20 years, we have the potential to do very exciting things.”
The founders’ passion is now channelled into a clear, staged roadmap. Halcyon will deliver its first customer cars in 2026, while Evice Technologies prepares to make its modular 800-volt platform available to select partners across the automotive, marine, and defence markets.
While serving both private and commercial clients, both brands share the same purpose: to prove that a cleaner future can inspire opportunity, not demand compromise.
